Vegetables gathered in the garden, fresh bread from the local bakery will make this meal a special one. As the soup ingredients are being washed and cut, a handsome young man appears at the front gate. “Mademoiselle”, he cries out. “Would you walk the forest path with me?” She drops her utensils and she is off for a brief stroll in the spring air."

Making pine needle baskets is a tradition passed on from Tracy’s Grandmother; she is the only Granddaughter that learned this family tradition. The missions of San Antonio and San Miguel were established in Salinan territory in 1771 and 1797 where the baskets are sold today.
